Kauai Community Radio:
Your Sound Choice
The Fall 2008 Membership Drive
hits the airwaves
November 6th
Here are several ways you can support:
Become a Member (click here for membership levels and details) Help sustain our important community resource for now and into the future by becoming a member. For your tax-deductible donation, you will receive environmentally friendly Mahalo Gifts, plus 365 days of great community radio programming!
Become a Waverider (click here for form)
For a donation of $175, you can ride the airwaves and surf the net with KKCR. A Waverider receives a brief message that will be broadcast during every live program throughout the membership drive. If you sign up by November 6th, that's over 90 messages for less than $2 per message. And that's not all. You'll also get a three month link on our website. What a great way to get your message our while supporting KKCR!
Donate a gift or service (click here for form)
Gift certificates provide incentive to our listeners to make a donation. Donate a gift or service and you will receive on-air acknowledgement when we offer your gift as incentive for pledges. Providing incentive gifts to our supporters during the membership drive not only get you on-air exposure, but it also helps to get potential clients to check out your business. And the more gift certificates you give, the more on-air acknowledgments you'll receive.
Make a Matching Pledge
Double your donated dollars by setting up a matching pledge. This generates excitement and provides great incentive for listeners to call-in their pledges. It also gives you or your business concentrated on-air exposure on the program of your choice when your matching pledge is pitched. For more information and to set up a matching pledge, give us a call at 826-7774.
Provide a meal
During the drive, our volunteers work very hard taking all those incoming pledges. You can help keep our busy little bees buzzing around by preparing a meal, and we will thank you on-the-air. |

KKCR’ S TALK STORY SERIES is an ongoing cultural preservation project focusing on Hawaiian musicians who share their stories and songs for present and future generations. Wala`au or Talk Story is translated as reminising or communicating, which perfectly captures the spirit of the project.
This edition of Talk Story is entitled Ka`a`mea, or the winds of change. The focus is on the innovators - those local musicians who have taken traditional Hawaiian music and instruments to a new level.
The artists for this year's series include Grammy winner and nominees: Ken Emerson, Paul Togioka and Jake Shimabukuro.
Recorded live in the studios of KKCR and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Click here to donate and receive Talk Story series. Non-commercial radio stations may email kkcr@kkcr.org to request a copy, free of charge.
The KKCR Talk Story Collector's Edition,
3 sets of Talk Story Series from 2003, 2004 & 2005 is also available for just a $100 donation. Click here for more info. |

“KKCR is Kauai’s independent, non-commercial, listener-supported community radio station.
We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to preserve, perpetuate and celebrate Hawaiian culture, and to reflect the diversity of the local and world community.
We provide a forum for overlooked, suppressed, or under-represented voices and music. The Kekahu Foundation facilitates this broadcasting opportunity.

In the wake of Hurricane `Iniki’s devastation in 1992, community members gathered to develop a plan to stay connected, informed and safe. Their brainchild was Kaua`i Community Radio.
In the summer of 1997, KKCR broadcast its first signals island-wide. The small community-based, non-profit radio station connects all the remote communities on the isolated Garden Island. KKCR is committed to providing relevant, accurate, timely information during times of crisis. It’s also dedicated to representing the unique character of the island community.
KKCR’s program schedule reflects the broad, rich spectrum of Kaua`i’s community. Musical genres include vintage and contemporary Hawaiian, Jazz, Alternative, Reggae, World, Classical, Rock and Blues. Kaua`i Live features in-studio performances from local and visiting artists on Sunday evenings.
The Public Affairs programming includes weekly call-in talk shows, a Hawaiian Entertainment Calendar, Community Calendar, and Arts & Entertainment Calendar. Special interest programs include gardening, island pets, health and wellness, and teen radio.
As a commercial-free, non-profit entity, KKCR’s survival depends on support from its community – local and global. Please join KKCR’s `ohana (family). To support listener-powered community radio, please click here. |
