Two men who braved flames to find friends will be honored
One of the first rules of fire safety: Get out and stay out.
But when someone breaks the rule and enters a burning building anyway, that person is seen as a hero.

Separate wind-whipped fires burning near Boulder
At least two wind-whipped fires are burning near Boulder, as massive gusts rattle buildings and knock down trees and power poles.
An electric transformer downed by the wind shortly after 1 p.m. sparked a grass fire that spread to a house in a rural area north of Boulder, authorities said.
About a half-hour later, crews were called to a fire along Olde Stage Road. The blaze has jumped U.S. 36 heading east toward the first fire. Authorities have closed the highway between Broadway and Hygiene.

Cigarette likely sparked fatal Roxborough blaze
Authorities believe a fire that swept through a Roxborough home in August and killed three young people probably started with a smoldering cigarette left on a wooden deck, which spread to high-octane fuel stored in the garage, family and friends of the victims said Tuesday.
West Metro Fire Rescue officials plan to release their findings on what caused the Aug. 3 fire today at a morning news conference.
Authorities will review the timeline of the fire, the cause of death and the cause of the blaze.

Teen charged in high-speed chase
An Adams County sheriff's deputy told detectives how he feared for his life when he saw someone firing numerous rounds at him from the sunroof of a car during a high- speed chase.
Shortly after the Acura Integra crashed into some bushes, Deputy Jeff Stovall pinned the vehicle with his patrol cruiser, raced to the rear tinted window, smashed it with his firearm because he couldn't see inside and pulled a teenager from the rear passenger seat.
On Tuesday, Adams County prosecutors charged Kevin Vue, 16, as an adult with several felony counts including attempted murder, first-degree assault, vehicular eluding and aggravated motor vehicle theft. Because he was charged as an adult, district Judge Francis C. Wasserman sent Vue to the Adams County Jail, where he was being held on $100,000 bail.
